On the verge of the release of his debut solo album, singer/songwriter Max Gilkes is philisophical about his sound being pigeon-holed. "It's the nature of the beast," he says, "Everyone wants a shortcut but music is such a personal thing". Nonetheless comparisons have ranged from Bowie, to John Mayer, Lenny Kravitz and Phil Lynott. His style is unashamedly "songwriter rock" but expect a range from considered acoustic ballads to blues infused rock. No overnight success, Max has worked with practically everyone as session player, co-writer and producer from Lily Allen (“Alright Still”) to Katie Waissel (X-Factor), Manu Chao, Prince Fatty, John Leckie, Craig Pruess etc. He will be bringing his intimate acoustic trio featuring Adam King (Jason Mraz) and Steve Allsworth (Ronan Keating).
