The main reasons for custom framing are simple—selection and quality. Though they are less expensive, ready-made store-bought frames are often poorly assembled from inferior materials in a handful of common sizes only. Every element of a custom frame—mouldings, mat, backing material, mounting method, and size—are individually selected and combined to complement the art in its environment, or, in a gallery setting, to isolate it from its surroundings.
Whether you intend on tackling your own framing or would just like a better understanding and appreciation of what is involved, this two-day workshop is for you. You will learn the vocabulary of framing, and what is involved in each step of the process.
This is a two-day workshop. The second part the class is on Saturday, September 25, from 10am-2pm.
