Succeeding last summer as headliner of The Camplified Tour *, the largest Camp tour in the country, Matt has reemerged upon the Boston scene with a fresh sound and new band behind him. With his last full-length album selling over 1,500 copies on tour, Matt ran to the top of the label ladder with Universal Nashville thanks to his production team Baldwin Ent. In order to finish school at Berklee College of Music, the two entities parted ways. Since then, Matts music has developed into a more radio friendly genre as he has acquired a pop-oriented mindset while maintaining his rock-jazz elemented roots. Recently, Matt has teamed up with 2007 Boston Music Awards Local Producer of the Year Crit Harmon (producer for Martin Sexton), to record his upcoming EP. With a release date set in April, the EP entitled "First Taste" will be the next step in gaining industry interest. Keep your eyes open, as it is only a matter of time until Matt Lowell becomes a household name in this ever-changing industry. With a stage presence that catches audiences right away, his charisma, personality and talent are not hard to notice. "When I pick up my guitar to set down some lyrics, there is always a vision in my head of bringing the music alive. It was hard at first to tell the story and bring the listener along, but it was my goal to show the picture. It started out by small images and snippets of important times in my life that I would begin writing about. I am more of an indirect storyteller than one who paints the complete picture for the listener. I like the listener to put themselves in the lyrics, instead of telling a rigid story. Whether it is of a broken relationship or my paradigm of the world today," says Matt, "todays song writers such as Fiona Apple, Dave Matthews and John Mayer, along with another player or band who is not afraid to push the creative envelope, say it best for me. From one song to the next, I try my best to capture a brand new mood."
