As part of the Chicago Folk & Roots Festival, Old Town School is proud to welcome Venezuela's finest interpreters of joropo oriental on their premier tour of the United as part of Nuestra M!sica. Maestros del Joropo Oriental's upcoming album for Smithsonian Folkways, 'Y Que Viva Venezuela,' features the best of Venezuela's regional music (Joropo) as played by its finest musicians. String instruments propel the sound of the joropo oriental, a music that moves like a fast-paced waltz mixed with African and European influences.
