Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit like Christmas season music, and few groups anywhere in the world present it with more soul-stirring, memory-touching artistry than the seven-time International Champion Masters of Harmony! This year, the Masters will be making their first Christmas season appearance in Bakersfield’s Rabobank Theater for the Bakersfield Community Concert Association. The theme of this year’s show is “Masters in This Hall.” The musical fare will range from well-known traditional carols to rousing, toe-tapping holiday songs, some with instrumental accompaniment by the hugely popular Les Weiser band. All of them are designed to create the spirit of “hope and joy for all creation” mentioned in the title song. The Masters of Harmony chorus, based in Santa Fe Springs, California, has come to be recognized as one of the premiere a cappella groups in America. Starting with a handful of men in 1985, the Masters now boast over one hundred members. All amateur singers, their ranks include CEOs, doctors, attorneys, engineers, teachers, police officers, students, retirees—men of all ages, from all walks of life. What they have in common is their love of four-part harmony, performed at the highest possible quality level, and a desire to share their music with others.
Choreographed routines add visual interest and excitement to every performance.

The chorus performs publicly on the average of once a month. Engagements include barbershop shows, community concert series, commercial bookings and other special events, as well as their own shows in the Los Angeles area each spring and Christmas. They're a miraculous combination of every kind of musical, theatrical and dance talent you can dare to imagine, and then some!"
The Masters of Harmony was founded in 1985 and chartered as the Foothill Cities, California Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In December of 1987 the chorus moved to the City of Santa Fe Springs and commenced a relationship with the city government and the community that has continued to blossom and thrive. Their purpose was, and still is, to pursue musical excellence, with every member expected to be an active participant in the chorus and its related activities.
Starting with a handful of men, the chorus has quickly risen to the upper echelon of a-cappella choral music. The Masters now boasts several Division and District titles and seven International Chorus Championships -- 1990 (San Francisco); 1993 (Calgary, Alberta, Canada); 1996 (Salt Lake City); 1999 (Anaheim); 2002 (Portland); 2005 (Salt Lake City); and 2008 (Nashville). These victories represent the outcome of a competition open to more than 800 choruses from the United States and several foreign countries.
One of the highlights of the 1996 contest in Salt Lake City, Utah was the opportunity the Masters of Harmony had to sing with the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Sunday, July 7th. Under the direction of Dr. Greg Lyne, the Masters (in white) combined their voices with the choir to perform the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" at the traditional Sunday morning Interfaith Service. This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform with such a world-class organization in such a beautiful, historic venue.
Besides cyclic competition at divisional, district and international contests, the chorus also performs publicly on the average of once a month. Engagements include barbershop shows, commercial bookings, community concerts, corporate meetings, and other special events.

The Masters of Harmony has recorded seven albums of our music including Showtime, Caroling! Caroling!, Masterpiece, California Gold Rush, Christmas Eve In Our Hometown, The Way We Were, and a 2009 release, Portrait.
