Masterpieces From an English Country House: the Fitzwilliam Collection December 2, 2006

Chronicling the evolution of a great English family collection from its origins in the 17th century to the present day, this exhibition brings together for the first time masterpieces that are today housed in multiple locations. The show will include thirty-two paintings ranging from portraits by Anthony Van Dyck to masterpieces by the 18th-century painters George Stubbs and Joshua Reynolds, to a beautiful selection of more recently acquired old masters. A full set of Audubon's Birds of America and a small selection of decorative arts will round out the collection.
