Mascall Dance presents The White Spider November 25, 2011

Mascall Dance presents the powerful and viscerally thrilling work, The White Spider, on Friday, November 25 at The Norman Rothstein Theatre at 1pm & 5pm.

Choreographer Jennifer Mascall's full-length piece combines athletic choreography, towering, sculptural installations, and sophisticated aerial effects to explore the extreme sport of mountaineering, and the passion and thrill that drives individuals to pursue it.

The White Spider features five dancers who climb, rappel, fly, and dance on the walls and ceiling of a massive, shifting and ever-changing set. A captivating struggle for survival unfolds, as the artists fight to gain purchase on steeply raked slopes, physically supporting and hauling one another as they drive themselves onwards, free falling into space, thus leaving behind the confines of gravity.
