The beautiful University of Maryland campus will rock to an international beat April 28 – our 9th annual Maryland Day open house. We’re celebrating the global diversity of our campus – so come enjoy a day full of family fun, learning and discovery.

"Maryland Day is our way of sharing with the community everything that makes the university such a treasured resource for the state and region," says University President Dan Mote, Jr.

There will be some 400 events, including a grand opening ceremony in Hornbake Plaza with flags from around the world, international cooking demonstrations, student performances, a Persian Vision exhibit in the campus Art Gallery, and much more. We’ll have tours, exhibits, demonstrations, and sporting events. All events run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Everything is family friendly. Don’t miss a scoop of Maryland ice cream at the Dairy! Admission and parking are free, and campus navigation is easy with the help of complementary activity maps. Plan your day online at http://www.marylandday.umd.edu/, or email questions to: mddayhelp@umd.edu

Additional Info

The University of Maryland is in College Park, about two miles from the Beltway on Rt. 1 (the next exit past I-95). Maryland Day starts at 10 a.m. but you'll want to come a little early to watch the opening ceremonies for our “Global Village” in Hornbake Plaza (just off Campus Drive beyond the M Circle). There will be plenty of free parking and lots of help - including information booths and a colorful program book with a giant map and descriptions of all the events. You'll be able to download it online in April as well.

All events are free - and there's a wide range of food for all age groups. Because we're celebrating the global diversity of our campus this year, there will also be international cooking demonstrations and student group performances in Hornbake Plaza. Be sure to bring your walking shoes, check the weather before you come (Maryland Day continues rain or shine), and plan to spend a day learning about the University of Maryland and everything it has to offer.

There are activities for all age groups and the entire day is family friendly. All Terp fans are welcome!
