REVIEW PERIOD EXTENDED FOR MARY AVENUE EXTENSION PROJECT DRAFT EIR
Public can file comments until November 12
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for Sunnyvale’s Mary Avenue Extension project will now be received until November 12. This extends the public comment period to 81 days, nearly twice as long as the legal requirement of 45 days. The comment period is being extended to allow members of the community to thoroughly review and comment on the document.
The proposed extension includes a three-tenths of a mile bridge that would cross over U.S. 101 and Route 237, VTA’s Tasman West light rail tracks and Moffett Park Drive. The bridge structure would have four traffic lanes, a raised median, sidewalks and bike lanes. In addition, the project includes signalized intersection improvements at the intersection of Mary Avenue and Almanor Avenue, and at the northern connection of Mary Avenue to the Eleventh Street and E Street intersection.
Copies of the draft EIR can be obtained from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Works, and a review copy is available at Sunnyvale Public Library. An electronic copy is available online at MaryAvenue.inSunnyvale.com.
Comments on the draft EIR may be submitted in writing by any person prior to 5 p.m. Monday, November 12. Written comments should be filed in the Department of Public Works, Division of Transportation and Traffic, 456 W. Olive Ave. Comments will be responded to in the final EIR and will be considered by Sunnyvale City Council.
