Parsons Design and Technology presents the first in a series of student-organized lectures. Martin Wattenberg, a researcher at IBM, is equally known for his scientific work in the field of information visualization, and for his information-based digital art. Focusing on visual explorations of culturally significant data, Wattenberg's artwork utilizes the mathematical underpinnings of a computer program not simply as tools to create art, but as the core of the works themselves.

Recently named one of the world's 100 top young innovators by Technology Review, Wattenberg has exhibited at The London Institute of Contemporary Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, Ars Electronica, and The New Museum. Commissions include The Whitney, The Smithsonian National Museum of American History, The NASA Art Program, Ars Electronica, and The Walker Art Center.
