Downtown Music Productions will once again pay tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. with a program that includes excerpts from Nkeiru Okoye's opera about the life of Harriet Tubman, music by Calvin Hampton and a World Premiere by David Burger - his setting of part of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech for vocalists and piano, performed by the Downtown Chamber & Opera Players. Adding their voices to the celebration with be the Caring Community Chorus and the St. Mark's Chorus, directed respectively by Mimi Stern-Wolfe and Jeannine Otis, in the traditional 'This Little Light of Mine.' Choreographer Sasha Spielvogel has created a solo for Jamal Shuria to Heav'n, Heav'n' and 'Wade in the Water.'
