Mark Applebaum's The Metaphysics of Notation performed by Compás March 15, 2013

The Museum will feature The Metaphysics of Notation, an exhibition of Mark Applebaum’s visually complex and engaging musical scores. In the flamenco music tradition of Spain, Compás refers to the musical time signature, but more importantly is used to describe a musician’s “feel”. Compás was formed in 2010 by Terry Longshore to actively perform a variety of new percussion music, classic percussion chamber music, and world music. Ensemble members Terry Longshore, Bryan Jeffs, and Jacob Phelps-Ransom bring a multitude of influences to the energy of Compás and are dedicated to the creation of new music for percussion and collaborations with other musicians.
