In 2000, Marino Formenti made a stunning American debut in a four-day festival for Monday Evening Concerts. The L.A. Weekly described the event as "a state of exhilaration beyond any experience. His sheer power pinned you to your seat." He returned the next year for a similar undertaking and has since performed at some of the most important festival and institutions around the world. In Part I of his concerts at LAMA, Formenti will focus on the life and soul of Gyorgy Kurtag, performing works by those who inspired him. The evening will include compositions by Kurtag, Machaut, J.S. Bach, Schubert, Schumann, Webern, Bartok, Ligeti, and Stockhausen.
