Margie Gillis: Sacred Ellington March 7, 2009

Canadian internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Margie Gillis joins in Honor! A Celebration of African American cultural legacy with her solo performance in Sacred Ellington --comprising excerpts from Duke Ellington’s magnificent Three Sacred Concerts. The concert also features Jessye Norman with a jazz ensemble, string quartet and a gospel choir. The tribute takes place at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, a special sanctuary of central importance in Ellington’s life.
