International comic sensation Margaret Cho returns to Sydney for the world premiere of her new touring show Beautiful, as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras.
In the past seven years Cho has launched four sold-out tours, turning each into a self-produced concert film. In 1999 her groundbreaking one-woman show I'm The OneThat I Want was turned into a best selling book and film. Her Notorious C.H.O. tour culminated in a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall, and the CD of her third tour Revolution was nominated for a Grammy. In 2004, Cho took her politically charged State of Emergency tour through the swing states of the Presidential election. The show evolved into her fourth critically acclaimed national tour Assassin, which visited Australia in 2005.
This past summer, Cho emceed the inaugural True Colors tour, a 16-city concert event in support of the Human Rights Campaign, created by and starring Cyndi Lauper. A true entertainment pioneer, Cho recently wrapped headlining her own Off-Broadway variety show The Sensuous Woman, featuring the comedian performing burlesque, comedy and music.
