To simply call Marco Benevento a pianist would be to laughably shortchange the multi-instrumentalist genius. A fan of circuit-bending, jazz, experimental organ work and playing analog pianos through guitar pedals, Benevento’s approach, design and performance style of music stretches the very definition of music to new corners of creativity. He’s toured with Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, drummer Joe Russo, Matt Chamberlain, Steven Bernstein and Wayne Krantz to name a few. Rolling Stone calls his latest album, Between the Needles and Nightfall, “deceptively rich” and likens his wild ways to Emerson, Lake and Palmer taken even further.
“Benevento jams with a concentration on the textures and colors available in his keyboards and arsenal of manipulated pedals and effects.” - Rolling Stone
About Play Pause Stop, “A strong, agile, and ultimately believable record. Several more credible indie rockers could stand a little more of all three right now.” - Pitchfork
