The American Legion Post 10, Manassas, Virginia is sponsoring the INAUGURAL GREATER MANASSAS VETERANS DAY PARADE on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. which will take place in Old Town Manassas. This first Veterans Day Parade in Old Town will honor our local WWII veterans as well as all veterans. In addition to our WWII vets we plan to have various military and high school bands, pipe and drum corps teams, military units from the various Armed Services, military vehicles from WWII to the present, members from the local veterans’ organizations, and a flyover by two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters.
We are requesting support from the businesses and citizens of the area to help pay tribute to the veterans in the area in this endeavor which is long overdue. The cost of the parade is great; however, the cost to do nothing is greater. You may purchase an ad in our program booklet and/or make a tax deductible contribution to the parade by going to the parade website at: www.manassasveteransparade.org. Proceeds from the parade will be donated to the Fisher House.
The parade committee is a joint effort between American Legion Post 10, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 617, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7589.
The route of the parade starts at Prescott Ave and Quarry Rd., south on Prescott to Center St., west on Center St. past the reviewing stand at Center and West Sts. where the parade will terminate.
