The World's Largest DIY Festival
A two-day, family-friendly event to MAKE, create, learn, invent, CRAFT, recycle, think, play and be inspired by celebrating arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science and technology.
Saturday, May 30th - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 31st - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
MAKE is a quarterly, project-based magazine, it's also a physical event series called "Maker Faire" a very popular website, a book series, a Maker Shed, a television show - but most of all, it's a community of Makers who share their projects and skills. MAKE is what-you-MAKE-it. It's a growing DIY movement of people who look at things a little differently and who just might spark the next generation of scientists, engineers and makers.
Our mission at Maker Media, a division of O'Reilly Media and home to MAKE Magazine, Maker Faire and the host of other inspirational and instructional Maker Media brands, is to unite, inspire, inform, and entertain a growing community of highly imaginative and resourceful people who undertake amazing projects in their backyards, basements, and garages. We call these people "Makers."

@mpechner, my source was the organizers in person as of 5/4/08; in the past, they let me know of changes, but I'll ping 'em to make sure. UPDATE: Yep, as of 1/4/09 confirmed dates via website. Note that Memorial Day is the Monday BEFORE the event.
On the Maker Faire website http://makerfaire.com/ right at the bottom, it does list these dates:
Maker Faire Bay Area: May 30th and 31st, 2009, San Mateo, CA
The original listing for this event, where you can find many more people going/interested, is at:
http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/574200/
(add yourself there for greatest visibility to friends/fans/others via upcoming)
and remember to buy tix by tomorrow for best rates. And plan to get there by bike/transit/carpool... let's go green for a sustainable Faire.
Discounted tickets ($5 off each ticket) can be purchased now through the event at 75 Bay Area locations - including Radio Shack, Whole Foods, The Exploratorium, Cartoon Art Museum and Copperfields Books -- for exact locations check out: http://makerfaire.com/bayarea/2009/tickets/#local
I'll probably be there Sunday...

Does anyone have an official source for this date? I can't find a reference to the 2009 maker faire on the web site.
