This exhibition, comprised of photographs from the Kemper Museum’s Permanent Collection, examines the ways that photographers “make strange” the everyday. From the painterly techniques of digital manipulation used by Loretta Lux to the performative vignettes created by Cindy Sherman, these are ways the exhibition’s artists demonstrate the rethinking of everyday life enabled by aesthetic modes of defamiliarization.
