Joy Duff, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, will teach visitors to make a decorative beaded rosette at a workshop Saturday, May 17, 2008, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian, 3001 Central Street, Evanston.
A resident of southwest Michigan, Duff learned her skills from tribal elders.
The rosettes can be used for hair ties, key chains, or other items, Duff says.
During the workshop, Duff will discuss the role of beading in Native American culture.
The workshop is recommended for ages 15 and older.
Admission to the workshop, including all materials, is included with a standard entrance donation to the museum. Suggested donation is $5 for adults; $2.50 for seniors, students, and children.
