Mahler's Symphony of A Thousand September 9, 2012

Mahler himself conducted the debut of his bigger-than-life symphony, featuring more than 1,000 performers and justifying its nickname. Yannick Nezet-Seguin will marshal the enormous forces - two full orchestras, a chorus of 240, eight soloists - in the NAC Orchestra's first-ever performance of this masterpiece. Mahler described it perfectly: "Try to imagine the whole universe beginning to ring and resound. These are no longer human voices, but planets and suns revolving in their orbits."
