Now in its eighth year, the Festival will premier "Black Irish" which was shot in Boston and stars this year’s Excellence Award Honoree Brendan Gleeson. The story follows a teenage boy who longs to win the attention of his emotionally distant father. This year’s offerings will also include the hit comedy “Studs,” again featuring Gleeson, this time as the manager of a ramshackle soccer team as well as a film version of Maeve Binchy's romantic drama “Tara Road,” starring Andie McDowell. Filmmakers will be present at many of the screenings and will be available to discuss their work with audiences.
Screenings will take place at the Brattle Theatre and the Harvard Film Archive in Cambridge. In addition to screenings, there will be receptions at Boston area pubs and hotels.
