Made to Deceive: Trompe L'Oeil Art May 2, 2008

Trompe L'Oeil is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted object really exists, instead of being a mere representation. The name is derived from French for 'trick the eye'; tromper -- to deceive and l'oeil -- the eye. The works of the artists included in this exhibition are masterpieces of illusion, and highlight exquisite control over both materials and colors.
