WHAT:
Santa Claus is coming to town! Giving the reindeer a little R&R, Santa will arrive on a shiny Macy’s motor coach to visit with children of all ages in Birmingham. All are welcome to share in a few magical moments, as Jolly Ol’ St. Nick reminds everyone about the magic of the Christmas season with a special reading of T’was the Night Before Christmas.
Santa and his elves will also stir up the spirit of the holidays by inviting everyone to drop a letter into the special Macy’s Believe Mail Box. Each deposited letter will result in a $1 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1-million dollars.
But first, Santa will spend some quality time with Birmingham’s Make-A-Wish children and their families, as they enjoy hot cocoa and cookies at a private reception inside Macy’s.
MORE:
Launching his national tour last year as part of Macy’s popular Believe campaign, Santa’s National Tour will once again take him on a whirlwind trip to visit 26 cities in 26 days across America. Motoring from New York City (where he will have just finished Macy’s Parade), Santa’s National Tour started on November 27 in Sioux Falls, SD, and concludes on December 22 in Indianapolis, IN. All along the way, Macy’s National Santa Tour will give children from coast-to-coast a chance of a lifetime opportunity to meet the man himself! Visit www.macys.com/believe to track Santa on his journey across the U.S.!
WHO:
Santa Claus was first introduced to his home-away-from-home at Macy’s on 14th Street in 1862. As time passed, Macy’s expanded, moving Santa to the store’s new location on 34th Street in 1902. In 1924, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® stepped off for the first time to usher in the season and bring Santa to the store to unveil Macy’s famous Christmas windows. In 1947, Santa was immortalized in the classic film “Miracle on 34th Street,” and his home at Macy’s was proclaimed. Many decades later, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® has become the official start of the holiday season each year, bringing the one-and-only Santa Claus to town.
