Macy's Announces "Community Shopping Day" Charity Event-Hawaii May 14, 2011

“This is an incredibly special way for us to support important causes and celebrate our connections to our local communities,” said John Gorham, Regional Director of Stores for Macy's Southwest. “Through this program, we have been able to raise much needed funds for the local charities that matter most to our communities and customers. It is a compelling way to support charitable work on a local basis and will be particularly meaningful for our charity partners this year.”
Macy's is currently accepting charities for participation. Interested charities can register to participate in Macy’s Community Shopping Day by visiting www.macys.com/csd or calling 800.251.1431 800.251.1431 .
Macy’s donates shopping passes to participating charities. The shopping passes are then sold by the charitable organizations for $10 each in the weeks leading up to the event. The organizations keep 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the shopping pass. Pass holders can redeem their passes at select Macy’s stores on Saturday, May 14, 2011 to receive 20 percent off most men’s, women’s, kids and accessories, fine and fashion jewelry, housewares, china, luggage; 10 percent off furniture and mattresses, and 10 dollars off the first purchase of 25 dollars or more. Shopping passes are also sold at Macy’s stores starting on April 23 through May 14, 2011. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the pass benefits designated local charities.
