First, a plug for our Sponsors!
Long-time sponsor Monster Cable will be there once again, with yet another goodie to give away at the door. Long time list member Philip Abinante, who goes by the title "Monster IT Support Analyst" will be there smiling with a stash of surprising swag.
Please welcome a new sponsor this year, from the other side of the pond, JPY plc, a distributor of Workflow Software from the UK. They have a new business mail archiving solution that looks pretty cool. They are bringing some Pounds Sterling which may make the whole food issue moot if the Exchange Rate vs the US
Dollar keeps trending in the Brits' favor! More info to come.
Returning sponsor Kerio will have a copy of their mail server sofware to give away.
Schoun Regan, easily the hardest working guy at Expo - he runs the MacIT Conference and is teaching half a dozen workshops and session at the conference. Schoun is bringing a couple of cool prizes and his jovial self so you can pick his brain.
One of our two longest-running, super-reliable sponsors and contributors to the Mac-Mgrs list - Michael Swan from Neon Software has donated some cash and a prize to be given away to whomever can answer the hardest trivia question I can come up with after a few beers.
Mark James and crew from SoftRAID are once again contributing sponsors, as they have been since our very first Expo event almost eight years ago! Mark also is a generous sharer of knowledge on disk-related (and other) questions here on the list. SoftRAID has earned our undying love and respect!
Doug Hanley of MacTEK Consulting & Training, the Apple Authorized Training Center in Las Vegas, provides Apple IT Classes and ProApps Classes, AND he's coughed up some cash for the MM event. Doug will also be teaching the DNS DeMystified Session which is part of the MacIT Conference at the Expo.
Mark Collien and Tom Bridge of Technolutionary have graciously donated some cash even though they can't even be there with us! Technolutionary is a Washington DC area IT consulting firm. Both Mark & Tom have been long-time list members, and if I recall correctly met via the list's jobs digest. They've been to many MM Expo get togethers, but can not make it out to SF this year. This is their way of "giving some back"... we'll drink a toast to you guys, I promise.
Finally another east coast MM regular could not make it, but emailed me and offered to make a small donation. Dave Provine of Premier Mac Technologies, said: "Unfortunately I'm not going to make it this year, but I'd love to throw in a donation anyway, just for the good of the group. I get a *lot* of value of of the list, and if I can buy everybody a few milliliters of beer, so be it." So he sent me $25 via paypal (a novel use of the technology) and I'll be sure to put it to it's intended use. Thanks Dave!
Beale Street Bar & Grill, upstairs.
We've had our event there now every year since 2001, and it is likely we'll keep coming back until they tear the place down and build a skyscraper there (which I've heard is indeed going to happen sometime in the future.) Tony The Bartender will be there pouring his legendary stiff drinks. Beale Street is on (surprise!) Beale Street between Mission and Howard, about five long blocks ENE of Moscone Center. It is a reasonable walk from most of the Expo hotels, or a very reasonable cab ride.
It is the green-roofed small building there in that view. It is the only small building in an area of tall buildings.
See you there in a little under a week!
