The National Theatre has one of those blurbs which doesn’t do justice to the play.

I really like Shaw as a playwright. He is much funnier than the National’s blurb would imply, although it is a tragic play. But it’s also a play about war and politics and expediency, so very modern and pertinent (you can tell I studied it for “O” level, what is now called GCSE  lol). He was a late 19th century/early 20th century Irish playwright who wrote Pygmalion and created the character of Liza Doolittle on which “My Fair Lady” is based (and many of the jokes in that are his original script). I’ve got a circle ticket for £10 and many are still available although the stalls are sold out as it’s press night.
