Since the birth of his singing career in 1992, Rivera’s voice, performance style and overall personality caused a sensation in the Regional Mexican music genre. His recordings show his versatility as he sings with a Norteno group (accordion) banda and mariachi.

Billboard Latin awarded him artist and album of the year in 2002 for his album “Despreciado” released by Sony Records. In 2003 he was awarded the best male solo artist and Regional Mexican Album of the year for the album “Amorcito Corazon.” He also received airtrack airplay of the year for the song “Te Solte La Rienda.”
