Gypsy guitar legend Lulo Reinhardt will play with his five-piece band at Riverside Theatres on Friday, 17 September at 7.30pm. Lulo Reinhardt and his Latin-Swing Project are part of Riverside’s Music Series and bring with them a sound that combines pure Gypsy-Swing with elements of Latin music such as; flamenco, tango and bossa nova.
Grand-nephew of Jazz legend Django Reinhardt, nephew of the Gypsy violin master Shnuckenack Reinhardt and from a traditionally long line of musicians, Lulo Reinhardt represents one of the most unique voices in Gypsy-Jazz music today. The band is Reinhardt from Germany on guitar, violinist Daniel Weltlinger from Sydney, bassist Harald Becher from Germany, Uli Kramer from Germany on drums and keyboardist Sean Mackenzie from Sydney.
Lulo Reinhardt’s Latin-Swing Project is the accomplishment of a maturing style and artistic creation. Swinging from tune to tune, Lulo Reinhardt brings into his music his gypsy roots as well as flamenco or Latin rhythms from Cuba to Brazil.
“Riverside is always excited to share versatile and talented musicians through the Music Series and Lulo Reinhardt brings both great versatility and talent. His unique blend of Latin and Gypsy influences promises to have audiences dancing in their seats” said Director of Riverside Theatres, Robert Love.
A spontaneous and spirited musician, Lulo Reinhardt’s different styles come from a musical voyage to find flamenco roots in Spain, Latin and Brazilian jazz from South America, combined with his own artistic stamp and gypsy influences. His name has achieved international acclaim.
Lulo Reinhardt has successfully toured throughout Europe and released a number of CDs and has established himself an outstanding reputation as a composer and guitarist. He has played in several major events such as Rock Gegen Hass, International Cultural Festival Sahara en el Corazón with Brazilian guitarist Zezom Ribeiro, World Roma Festival Khamoro, Jazz Goes to Town (Czech Republic), Jazz and Blues Festival (Czech Republic), Sidmouth Folk week (UK) and many others. Along the way, he has gathered the best musicians around him to create his personal project, Latin-Swing Project.
