LUIS PALAU NASHVILLE CITYFEST PLANNED FOR
RIVERFRONT PARK IN MAY 2007
Music, Action Sports, and Family-Friendly Event Expected
To Draw Tens of Thousands

Nashville, Tenn. – April 23, 2007 –Luis Palau Nashville CityFest will be held at Riverfront Park in downtown Nashville on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 – 20, 2007. The event is free to the public and comes at the invitation of key business, faith and community leaders. Luis Palau Festivals are family-friendly celebrations featuring live music, action sports, a children’s area and a positive message. With a program that has drawn over 5.5 million people since 1999 from south Florida to South America, Luis Palau Nashville CityFest was recently named an official “Celebrate Nashville” event by Mayor Bill Purcell. Activities are scheduled each day from 1:30 to 10:00 PM. Admission is FREE.

Palau festival events have changed the face of contemporary faith celebrations with a format of “Great Music and Good News” (www.palau.org). Recent festivals have attracted tens of thousands, including 225,000 in Houston; 200,000 in Minneapolis; 850,000 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; 100,000 in Washington D.C., and 300,000 in Fort Lauderdale. Said D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams, “The Luis Palau D.C. Festival made a very positive contribution to our city. There is a spiritual void in the lives of our people and events like the festival help fill that void.”

Nashville CityFest will showcase some of the top artists in contemporary Christian, gospel, pop and country music. The Livin It Action Sports Tour will feature top pro athletes from the “action sports” of skateboarding, freestyle motocross and BMX biking. Video superstars Bob & Larry from the VeggieTales film and video series will host a massive Family Fun Zone. An extensive public service component called Operation Compassion will focus on a variety of community needs.

Legendary NASCAR driver Darrell Waltrip is honorary chairman of the festival and Juli Fisher (wife of Titans Coach, Jeff Fisher) is stepping up in support of the event as well. Governor Bredesen and former governor Winfield Dunn are part of the festival’s Board of Reference. Key businesses, including but not limited to Clayton & Associates, Designhouse, Franklin American Mortgage, Lee Company, LifeWay, Purity Dairy, Radio Vida, Stuph Clothing, Way-FM, WNAZ, the Operation Andrew Group, and the YMCA have signed on as sponsors of the two-day festival.
