Lucy started out singing in Chicago bars. Then, barely out of high school, she took off for New York City. With a beautiful flair for harmony, Lucy was everyone's favorite singing partner, but most often she found herself singing as a duo with Shawn Colvin. People envisioned big things for them; in fact, The New York Times said it was "easy to predict stardom for her." But then Lucy dropped it all. She got her doctorate and became a clinical psychologist and started her own practice. Years later, Dr. Kaplansky turned back to full time music in 1994 when she was signed by Red House Records and began touring so much it required leaving her two psychologist positions behind. To this day,, Lucy continues to hone her sound to pop perfection. Her fifth album "The Red Thread" (Red House 2004) is a riveting blend of rock, folk, country and pop that perfectly complements her gorgeous, evocative vocals and stunning lyrics.
