Lowfish w/ Detroit Grand Pubahs January 25, 2007

LOWFISH was born in Toronto in 1972. Early in life, he was plagued with hearing problems and frequently found himself confined in soundproof hospital laboratories. Once cured, LOWFISH became fascinated by music, especially his mom's disco eight-track of Giorgio Moroder's robo-electric "I Feel Love." His infatuation grew as he began to feverishly collect anything and everything that sounded robotic and modular. By age 16 he was already producing tracks in his home studio. LOWFISH cites '70s acts Roedelius and Tangerine Dream, as well as '80s electro-pop legends OMD, New Order, and Art Of Noise as his biggest influences, along with some of the more crunchy techno found on Warp and Rephlex.

The Detroit Grand Pubahs are now set to exit their underground lair and take on the world. "Sandwiches" has found its way onto almost every major A-list DJ Chart around the world, and has been named "Essential New Tune" on England's illustrious Radio 1. The band wowed audiences with their extremely visual live show at the Winter Music Conference, and they have been compared to Prince, Rick James, Old Dirty Bastard, Mr. Oizo, George Clinton and more by a press struggling to come to grips with their unique sound.
