Lower Silverado Canyon "After the Storm!" Exploration with Adam, Orange County, Difficulty= moderate.
Silverado Creek in the Cleveland National Forest is a new place after the storms of December 2010. Currently, road damage prevents vehicle access to the Maple Springs Truck Trail, but it's still open to those on foot! As canyon residents, four of our naturalists experienced these storms firsthand. Join one of them on a guided tour along the flowing creek. See firsthand the mud and rock slides, the newly carved landscape, and the power of water! Be awed by the roaring water cascading down rocks. Explore newly opened lands, scramble over boulders, and get soaking wet while stomping through the dynamic stream channel. Follow the creek from the forest gate and go as far as you can. Option of walking back on the road at any time.
