Impossible to pigeonhole and irreplaceable to the scene which he has helped build over more than 20 years, Louie Vega is the quintessential music professional. He’s the ‘DJ’s DJ’, that name constantly thanked on an artist’s album copy, the one who has influenced and defined countless other DJ-producers, from today’s brightest stars to those still beat-matching in their bedrooms. In 2008, the Grammy Award-winning DJ, Producer, songwriter, label owner & band leader and tireless champion of House and world music is only getting better; from Latin to Salsa, afro-beat to jazz, hip-hop to classics and all forms of house/dance music the best is yet to come.
NextAid is truly honored to have had the ongoing support of the legendary Louie Vega over the years. Whether he is DJ’ing by himself or performing as Masters at Work, he is a permanent part of the history of the New York City house music and club scene. Additionally, Vega feels a strong connection to Africa and channels his humanitarian efforts through NextAid and its initiatives by donating his time and talent to play benefit gigs, donating items to NextAid’s auctions and contributing tracks to benefit CD compilations.
SFGATE voted Mighty best dance club in 2010 and best place for a late night dance party in 2011.Surrounded by three bars (one a 30-foot steel monster) and towering ceilings, Mighty easily lives up to its name. The club with a New York feel has made this little nook of a neighborhood between the Mission and Portrero Hill come to life. With a steadily deepening calendar of electronic beats from around the world, Mighty is a virtual warehouse of party action. In its short life, it's already become one of the best venues on the west coast, playing host to top notch international DJs on a regular basis.

About Kawangware Vision Centre (KVC)
Funds raised through NextAid related events are going toward the constructions of the Kawangware Vision Centre (KVC), located in a slum bordering Nairobi, Kenya. KVC is a locally created and managed organization started by former street children to provide positive opportunities to get kids off the streets and support vulnerable children at risk of engaging in street life. The organization runs a micro-business making silkscreened gift bags out of recycled paper. NextAid has partnered with KVC to build a new "green" workshop and multipurpose facility to expand their operation and ultimately serve more youth.
