Lou Reed is a true artistic icon. A renaissance man in every sense of the word, Reed was the primary inspiration for genre-changing musicians from David Bowie to Sonic Youth, and anchored Andy Warhol's seminal Factory scene with the band he founded and led, the Velvet Underground. Over the last three decades, Reed has evolved from gender-bending glam-rocker to avant-garde noiseman to straight-up rock-n-roller to accomplished martial artist, photographer and much more. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and has also been awarded the Chevalier Commander of Arts and Letters by the French Government in honor of his many contributions to contemporary music and art.

Reed recently performed at the medal ceremonies at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy this past February, followed by a month-long tour throughout Italy and Eastern Europe that ended in Prague, the home of one of his own inspirations, Vaclav Havel. More recently, Reed completed work on a new photo book entitled Lou Reed's New York. Encompassing over one hundred of his photographs of New York City, this book provides the reader with an intimate view of what has inspired and continues to inspire Reed about the city that he calls home.

Lou will be joined by world-renowed bassists Rob Wasserman and Fernando Saunders. Rob Wasserman's daunting versatility has made him one of the last two decade's most in-demand bassists -- as demonstrated by stints with Lou Reed, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello. His longtime creative partnership with Grateful Dead members Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir have yielded a trove of fertile sounds. And, last but far from least, the albums issued under his own name have won awards from sources in the jazz, pop and rock fields.

Fernando Saunders has always had a singular presence in the music industry. A world class, virtuoso bass player, singer, songwriter and producer, Saunders first came to international prominence as one of the core players with the renowned fund/pop artist, Hamilton Bohannon, and then as a key member of the pioneering rock/jazz ensemble, The Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer Group. In the early '80s, Saunders started long-term collaborations as a player, producer and frequent co-songwriter, with the esteemed urban rockers Lou Reed and Marianne Faithfull, and world beat musician Kip Hanrahan.
