LOST FILM/LOST ANCESTORS: Archival Photographs from Zululand September 16, 2004

Filmmaker Peter Davis presents production stills and actual film images from
the 1927 silent film, Siliva the Zulu, the first film to be made with an all-
Black cast in sub-Saharan Africa. Never before shown in the United States, the
exhibition also includes rare Zulu portraits by Italian ethnographer Lidio
Cipriani, a crew member of the original Siliva film expedition.
