Love, laughter, and high adventure arrive in Los Gatos in July 2008, with the return of the ever-popular Los Gatos Shakespeare Festival to Oak Meadow Park.
The 2008 Los Gatos Shakespeare Festival features three plays in repertory:
The Tempest and As You Like It, by William Shakespeare, as well as an original adaptation of the classic Beauty and The Beast, by Bruce W. De Les Dernier. The festival runs from July 18, 2008 through August 9, 2008. All shows begin at 8:00 PM,
Transported to an enchanted island alive with equal measures of romance, revenge, reconciliation, and slapstick comedy, Shakespeare’s The Tempest weaves a magical tale for the whole family. (July 18, 26, 31 and August 3 & 9)
As You Like It follows an enchanting assortment of love struck wanderers as they weave their way through the Forest of Arden in a deliciously romantic, comic concoction of cross-dressing, courtiers, country folk, and a clown! (July 20, 25 and August 2 & 7)
This original adaptation of Beauty and The Beast is a hauntingly beautiful story, brought to life through dark and eerie storytelling, about a brutal man turned magically into a beast. High adventure ensues as the Beast tries to win the redeeming love of Beauty, before the Spirits of the Forest lure him into resigning his humanity forever. (July 19, 27 and August 1 & 8)
