From the writer of Lionsgate's acclaimed film "Ladron Que Roba A Ladron" comes the Los Angeles Premiere of the Urban/Sci-Fi GB2525, to open the 6th Annual Reel Rasquache Film Festival, 2009.
GB2525
In the future, the only things that have changed... are the weapons.
In the dark, urban landscape of the future, a two-year gang truce is shattered when the leader of the most powerful gang, 54th Street, is brutally assassinated. Puppet (Richard Azurdia, Weeds), now in command, seeks violent retaliation. The sole obstacle to an all out war is a respected gang member known as "Supa'man" (Frank Alvarez, Kitchen Confidential), who convinces Puppet to give him time to search out those responsible and salvage the truce. Sup' and his crew Yoli “the sniper,” (Jossara Jinaro, Passions), Baboso “the muscle," (Bernie Martinez, Barrio Murders), and Spider “the techie,” (JoJo Henrickson, Ladron Que Roba Ladron) must battle time and rival gangs to ultimately discover a truth far greater than they could have ever imagined.
GB2525 was written/co-directed by Jojo Henrickson (writer of the critically acclaimed film, Ladron Que Roba A Ladron from Lionsgate) and produced by John Estrada (selected as a 2009 Producing Fellow for Project: Involve, a highly competitive mentorship program by Film Independent) of New Legacy Entertainment. Co-director, cinematographer, production designer and visual effects supervisor, Kieron Estrada, conceived the special effects and look of the film.
GB2525 also features a talented and diverse supporting cast of American Latino actors. Ruben Garfias (Get Smart's Bruce & Lloyd), Ricardo Molina (Freedon Writers), Gabe Martinez (General Hospital), Pete Pano (Robbing Peter) and Oscar Torre (Cane).
