Four years ago oil was discovered off the rural Irish coast, and inhabitants of the nearby remote village of Rossport found themselves suddenly strong-armed by the titanic might of Shell Oil. Documentarian Risteard O’Domhnaill follows the ongoing struggle of Rossport, as townspeople who have stood up to the takeover have become incarcerated, and as the Irish government has taken a complicit role in the injustice. Short film “Bye Bye Now” to precede the screening. Discussion following the film with producer Rachel Lysaght.
