Jalbert Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra (US premiere)
Haydn Symphony No. 31 in D major, “Hornsignal”
Thrill to a performer as exciting to watch as he is to hear. The mesmerizing Makoto Nakura is a master of marimba. He brings his extraordinarily athletic and expressive playing to a concerto by the award-winning Pierre Jalbert, who served as LACO’s composer-in-residence from 2002 to 2005. The symphony showcases the “classical brilliance” (Die Welt) that makes Haydn one of LACO’s specialties.
