Take an historic walking tour of Madison Square and environs, interpreting, discussing and pointing out the locations of 'Event Horizon,' New York's newest public art installment in the spirit of 'The Gates' and 'The Waterfalls.' The exhibit highlights the life-size body forms of artist Antony Gormley cast in iron and fiberglass that inhabit the pathways and sidewalks of the park, as well as the rooftops of the many architectural treasures that populate the Flatiron District. Each statue is atop a building with historic or architectural significance in order to bring that to the viewer's mind. The tour will discuss the exhibit and the historical connections to the edifices. More than a dozen stops on the tour include the Metropolitan Life Tower, once the world's tallest; the Flatiron, New York's first skyscraper; and the New York Life Building, once the site of the original Madison Square Garden.
