The Lone Star Youth Orchestra will present ‘King of Pop(s),’ a concert featuring the music of Michael Jackson. Additionally, the LSYO will perform works from Hooper’s ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ film score, Offenbach’s ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ Can-Can theme, Vaughn Williams’ ‘Tuba Concerto,’ featuring Nick Poulides on tuba, and more. The event will be held in Carpenter Hall of the Irving Arts Center. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults.
The Lone Star youth Orchestra is the only tuition-free, professionally managed youth orchestra in North Texas. It provides young, advanced level instrumentalists in the Metroplex area the opportunity to supplement and enhance their music education through opportunities to learn symbolic literature and high quality orchestral and ensemble training. Membership, by audition, in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is open to all middle school and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players.
