The first meeting takes place on November 27th from 6:30pm and is aimed at geo/mobile web heads who are based in the UK. There is a very successful meetup group based in Silicon Valley but nothing similar exists in the UK. It aims to be a forum for those working in the geo/mobile/social worlds to meet their peers, network, discuss new developments and share knowledge.
The agenda is quite loose, for the first meetup we have three short presentations followed by Q&As then an hour of social time. The presentations will provide some topics for discussion but the social time is free for everyone to discuss the presentations, network, or hold their own demo/workshop. All events are free to attend. This month's presentations will be:
1. Yahoo Fire Eagle - Gary Gale (Head of UK Engineering, Yahoo! Geo Technologies)
2. CloudMade/Open Street Map - Nick Black (Founder, CloudMade)
3. To Be Confirmed
Including yourself, the following parties are interested in attending: Yahoo! Geo Technologies Team, Google Geo team, Open Street Map, Microsoft Virtual Earth team, Nestoria, Bview, Qype, Rummble, Locomatrix, Transport for London, University College London, Buddyping, Caffeinehit, and Novauris. Developers, founders, CTOs, bloggers and a few journalists are all expected to attend.
