Join Wordsmiths Books for what will be the first of many great evenings spotlighting local music talent on the Wordsmiths stage. For the inaugural night, we’re pleased to present locals Amy Lashley, Julia Carrol, and Sean Kagalis. All three could be described as “folk” singer-songwriters, though to apply such a simple, generic label would be doing each’s individuality an injustice. Amy Lashley calls herself folk, if only because she “caved into the girl-with-the-guitar stereotype,” but her heartfelt songs definitely pull on an inner chord in everyone. Julia Carrol dubs her sound “hardfolk”-acoustic music with an edge. That edge is evident both in her skilled, at-times-frantic playing and her empowering activist lyrics. Sean Kagalis has migrated, over the course of his musical life, from KISS to Bright Eyes, with a life-altering stop for Ani Difranco along the way. Join these three up-and-coming local songwriters for an evening at Wordsmiths Books.
