Local Photographer Showcases Work At North Riverside Mall Theatre -- Chicago Artist To Display Work in Theatre Lobby Throughout the Month of January
North Riverside, IL – Photographer Robert Dicke wields his camera the way a painter wields brushes and oils. Through his lens, Robert alters his subjects' images to turn floral portraits and weather-beaten barns into still lifes and iconic Americana. Throughout the month of January 2011, Robert will be sharing his work with visitors at the popular North Riverside Mall Theatre, located at 7501 West Cermak Road, where his photographs will be on display in the lobby exhibit space.
A photographer for over 20 years, Robert Dicke's work pays tribute to, and embraces, American history. Farmhouses, silos and folk heroes are featured alongside images of nature and flag-draped bowls of perfect fruit. He finds his artistic inspiration in the works of illustrator Patrick Nagel and glamour photographer George Hurrell. By restricting light and flattening shadows, Robert creates photographs that look like illustrations.
Robert Dicke displays his work in numerous area art shows, in addition to his exhibition at the North Riverside Mall Theatre. "It's great that the owner of Classic Cinemas is using [that] space to showcase local artists," he says. "You don't have to be limited to art galleries only," he adds. Robert studied fine art at San Bernadino Valley College in San Bernardino, CA, and at Concordia University in River Forest, IL. His work can also be seen at http://www.dickearts.weebly.com.
Each month, the North Riverside Mall Theatre provides lobby space to display the works of local artisans.
