Chicago power duo Local H will release its first-ever greatest hits collection, Local H: The Island Years, on April 5th as part of Universal Music’s ICON series. With this release, they join the ranks of a select group of legendary artists who have been touted by Universal as representative of a genre and a generation, including Johnny Cash, James Brown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss and.... Hoobastank. To celebrate this honor, Local H will take a trip down memory lane, embarking on “The Singles Tour: All the Hits All Night,” on April 14th (itinerary below).
"With everyone and their mother doing tours of their classic albums, we thought it would be a good time to go out and just play every song we ever released as a single -- no deep cuts,” explains singer/guitarist Scott Lucas. “So, as usual, our timing is way off."
Local H: The Island Years features tracks culled from the three critically acclaimed albums the band released during their time on Island Records in the mid-90s, including “Bound for the Floor” from the gold-certified As Good As Dead (1996) and “All The Kids Are Right” from Pack Up the Cats, one of SPIN magazine’s top 20 albums of 1998. The compilation also contains two previously unreleased versions of songs: “Tag Along” (recorded during the sessions for Pack Up the Cats) and “Mayonnaise and Malaise (Radio Edit),” as well as the Guided By Voices cover “Smothered in Hugs” from the Slingblade soundtrack.
