West Palm Beach native Will Watkins, 23, earned a spot in the New Faces of Comedy Contest at the newly renovated Palm Beach Improv.
In 2006, Watkins won first place in a similar competition at Palm Beach's premiere comedy theatre, beating out more than 60 other comics. That earned him a free plane ticket to California and stage time at The Hollywood Improv on Melrose Avenue. On the eve of his flight to California he won yet another competition, The 305 Live Comedy Contest at The Miami Improv in Coconut Grove.
Since then he was featured on the cover of CityLink Magazine. He also gained exposure in publications such as The Palm Beach Post, New Times and The Week Day News.
In addition to being an Improv favorite, he has showcased his material at special events like Rock The Vote and Pridefest. He has also served as host and emcee for various shows including the Buzz 103.1 Battle of The Bands. He currently tours all over Florida, delivering laughs to both major clubs in metropolitan areas and small town clubs like JokeBoys in Ocala. He is a regular in the Rum Shack Comedy Showcase on Mondays in Lake Worth. He also performs at The Funky Buddha Lounge in Boca Raton.
The final round of the contest will take place at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 at the Improv, 550 S. Rosemary Ave. Suite 250, at CityPlace in West Palm Beach. Mention Will Watkins at the box office for free admission.
