The Renaissance Cultural Center ’s 16th Annual Dr. Marion J. Brooks Living Legend Awards and Scholarship Banquet presented by lead sponsor Citi. The event will include a reception at 6pm, followed by dinner.. The Renaissance Cultural Center (RCC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that awards scholarships annually to high school seniors and recognizes area citizens who have devoted their lives to community service. The center has awarded over $354,500 in scholarships to 221 Tarrant County youth over the past fourteen years, since awarding the first scholarships in 1995.

Actor, singer, composer, producer and minister Clifton Davis will be the evening’s keynote speaker. Dr. Davis is probably best known for his 5-year run as Reverend Rueben Gregory on the popular NBC television series, "Amen," and his earlier series, “That's My Mama”.

The 2009 Living Legends include: Mr. Willie O. Lawson, Sr., in Business; Mrs. Pearl Hunt in Community Service; Mrs. Rhonda Pruitt in Communication; Mr. Jefferson Davis in Education; and Judge Louis E. Sturns in Government.
