Come join us for a fun-filled day exploring the social and environmental history of Eaton Canyon!

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Costumed Interpreters ? Take a stroll around the nature center to interact with Eaton Canyon?s homesteaders, local ranchers, and other interesting folks as they are brought to life by costumed volunteers.
- Historical Site Hikes ? Embark on a two-mile guided history hike to see where homesteaders lived and worked the land, the start of Cap Henninger?s old trail up to Clara Basin, and where rockets were developed for World War II. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and sunblock!
- History Show ? Take a seat and learn a bit about Eaton Canyon?s interesting and little-known history from our costumed interpreters and historic images of the area.
- Crafts & Activities ? Get a feel for what life in and around Eaton Canyon was like in years gone by as you pan for gold, dress up on old-fashioned outfits, stitch a sampler, and make replicas of Chinese banners that once hung outside local laborers? homes.
- Book Signings ? Local authors Elizabeth Pomeroy (John Muir: A Naturalist in Southern California, etc.) and Paul Rippens (Heninger Flats, A Hikers Guide to Historic Mt. Lowe, etc.) will be on hand to sign copies of their books on topics of local historical interest.
- Informative Tables ? Learn more about local history at tables set up and staffed by community members and descendants of prominent local families.
- Bring Your Own Picnic ? Picnicking in Eaton Canyon has been a popular activity for well over a century, so bring a picnic! Light snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase.
