"New Public Space? What Video Journalism, Blogging et al Mean for Society and International Broadcasting"

!!!The conference is accessible via livestream over the webpage www.fes.de/medienpolitik and takes place in Berlin!!!

A conference hosted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and Deutsche Welle in cooperation with the university of Leipzig

Computers and the internet are commonplace today in many parts of the world, but by no means everywhere. This has implications for media consumption worldwide:
the young, in particular, are listening less to radio and spending more time surfing the web. The production modes for electronic media are likewise changing and allowing for new forms of presentation. Just how global is the "global village" really? Computers and internet access are not as common in less developed countries as they are in Germany. Moreover, freedom of broadcasting and freedom of the press are not given standards in all parts of the
world. Does the digital world offer opportunities for change in this respect?
